The Recipe App is built to keep your recipes, recipe photos, shopping lists, pantry items, and meal plans under your control. The app does not sell personal data and does not include third-party advertising or tracking.
You may add recipe links, recipe text, recipe photos, OCR results, ingredients, cooking steps, tags, shopping list items, pantry items, and meal plans. This content is used to provide the app's recipe library, import, planning, cooking, and shopping features.
When iCloud sync is enabled, your recipe data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit services so it can sync across your devices. The Recipe App does not operate a separate recipe database for your private iCloud data.
The public recipe website is separate from your private iOS recipe library. Public recipe discovery content is stored for the website experience. Site curation tools are restricted to the site owner and are not available to regular users.
The app asks for camera or photo library access only when you choose to scan, import, or attach a recipe image. OCR processing is used to extract text from the recipe image you selected.
When AI recipe features are available, selected recipe images, pasted recipe text, recipe links, and extracted recipe drafts may be sent to The Recipe App's server and OpenAI only to transcribe, clean up, classify, tag, categorize, or verify the recipe content for your import. The app does not use those images or recipe drafts for advertising or tracking, and the AI endpoints do not store them after processing. If AI services are unavailable, the app falls back to on-device OCR and local parsing.
If you choose to share a recipe or recipe list by invitation or share link, the information you select may be visible to the people you share it with. Private sharing is separate from the public recipe discovery website, and you control what you share.
The Recipe App does not include third-party advertising, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell personal data.
